September 2024 – “Road Less Traveled” Show

During September 2024, we had our third annual exhibition at the Lord Stirling Park Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge. This is a fabulous space for a show: it is large, has great lighting, and gets substantial foot traffic. If you want to learn more about the Education Center, please visit their website, https://visitsomersetnj.org/fun-somerset-nj/environmental-education-center/

For this year’s show, we had 13 artists exhibit 32 pieces. To see the show online, please click the link below.

May 18, 2024 – Plein Air at Brightwood Park

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the Westfield Art Association hosted the third annual plein air event in conjunction with the Friends of Brightwood Park. Nine painters enjoyed the park and got lucky with the weather (not too hot and the rain held off) and painted for three hours. Sharon Reed from South Avenue Arts was the judge and awarded first, second, and third place prizes. Congratulations to Alexandra Loop (1st place), Tom Kanitra (2nd place), and Lisia Zheng (3rd place) on your awards and congratulations to all the painters who participated and produced great pieces of art. The painters were Sandy Wygledowski, Gina Ferrer, Srinandhan Narasimhan, Ava Luzzi, Jean Rosen, and Darrin Owens, in addition to Alex, Tom and Lisia.

April 1, 2024 to May 12, 2024 – Annual Scholarship Sale

Each year the Westfield Art Association artists donate works of art for sale: proceeds from the sale fund a scholarship that we give to a graduating Westfield High School senior who intends to pursue art in college. The recipient is selected by the art director of Westfield High School.

The 2024 scholarship art sale had no specific theme and all were 5″ x 7″ unframed. The pieces were on display in person at South Avenue Arts, located at 221 South Avenue in Garwood, from April 15, to May 10, 2024.

This year’s scholarship sale was our most successful yet, as we raised over $1,000 and were able to give out two $500 scholarships.

Thank you for helping us raise funds for the scholarship!
