Former Artist-in-Residence Recipients
Kelly Renee – August 1, 2025 to November 30, 2025
Kelly Renee was Artist in Residence at the Westfield Memorial Library from August 1, to November 30, 2025. Kelly created her macramé artwork on a rolling rack at the library’s main entrance, where she also often doubled as a greeter!
Throughout her residency, she enjoyed strolling with patrons to the gallery of her work to view and even touch her artwork, sparking meaningful conversations along the way. Several library visitors were also taught how to do a square knot and contributed a knot or two to the pieces she was working on.
Quote from the Kelly Renee:
“Creating macramé is one of my greatest joys, and I enjoyed it just as much as meeting so many patrons at the Westfield Memorial Library. This residency was deeply rewarding and has already led to more wonderful opportunities — including a solo show at Union Art Gallery planned for late 2026/early 2027. I am honored that the Westfield Memorial Library will include one of my macramé wall hangings in its permanent collection, so that a piece of me and my art will continue to be part of the patron experience.”
Acknowledgements:
Kelly would like to thank the Westfield Memorial Library and the Westfield Art Association for selecting her as Artist in Residence and for promoting her work so widely in the community. Special thanks also go to Pedro and the custodian crew, who kept the library spotless while her cords and fibers were spread across the floor during her creative process.
