Artist Statement
Art, for me, is a bridge between past and present—a way to honor the places, people, and fleeting moments that shape our lives. My work draws inspiration from the landscapes of my childhood, the enduring romance of vintage trains, and the intimate rituals of family. Whether painting a tranquil riverbank, a bustling rail yard, or a quiet moment between loved ones, I strive to capture the emotional undercurrents that make each scene resonate.
I work primarily in oil, watercolor, and graphite, choosing my medium to best express the mood and story of each piece. My landscapes are often infused with a sense of nostalgia, using light and color to evoke memory and longing. In my figurative work, I focus on gesture and atmosphere, aiming to reveal the subtle connections that bind us to one another and to the world around us.
Recurring motifs—coastal vistas, historic locomotives, and scenes of everyday intimacy—reflect my fascination with journeys, both literal and metaphorical. I am drawn to the interplay of stillness and movement, the threshold between solitude and togetherness. Each painting is an invitation: to remember, to reflect, and to find beauty in the ordinary.
Ultimately, my goal is to create art that feels both timeless and personal—work that honors the stories we carry and the places we call home. I hope viewers find echoes of their own experiences in my paintings, and that my art serves as a gentle reminder of the wonder woven into daily life.
