Artist Bio
Dana Lyons is a New Jersey-based mixed media artist working across collage, decorative assemblage, decoupage, and digital composition. Her work explores transformation through surface—layering paper, texture, and found materials to create pieces that feel both intimate and enduring.
Rooted in a practice of reimagining the overlooked, Lyons often incorporates vintage and reclaimed materials, allowing history and material to shape the final form. Her aesthetic balances structure and emotion, creating work that is dark, refined, and deliberately composed.
Outside the studio, Lyons works in the corporate beauty industry while continuing to develop her artistic practice. She is the founder of GlamourGoth Art, where she creates original artwork, collectible objects, and commissioned pieces, often collaborating with collectors and fellow creatives to bring custom visions to life.
Artist Statement
My work explores what I think of as alternative adulthood—the idea that growing older doesn’t require abandoning the parts of ourselves that once felt unconventional. The interests, aesthetics, and identities that shaped us don’t disappear with age; they evolve.
Through collage and mixed media, I create work that blends refinement with rebellion, glamour with darkness, and nostalgia with contemporary design. I’m interested in the tension between these ideas and the unexpected ways they can exist together.
I want my work to feel as natural in a penthouse as it would in a dive bar bathroom. That’s the balance I’m always chasing.
My work is for the people who never fully left behind the parts of themselves that once felt unconventional—the corporate goth, the cool mom who traded late nights for school drop-offs but never lost her edge, the metalhead who still wears concert shirts from another era, the person who can walk into a board meeting and a creative studio with equal confidence. It celebrates the idea that growing up doesn’t mean becoming predictable.
