Artist Statement

The landscape, or some manifestation of the landscape or environment continually emerges in my work. While landscape painting is steeped in history and place, my imagined landscapes, represent an interior universe of the conscious. These works are a manifestation of my inner self, and metaphorically the visual settings that reflect my thoughts, fears and dreams. It is a visit to a distant memory…one that cannot fully be recalled but can be comprehended. The visual environments I create are of a topography that is familiar but one that I have never visited. It is that fleeting moment, the ambiguity in the psyche, which I strive to make real.
